Trail Type: Mid-distance trail; almost exclusively paved, (two short sections, less than a half mile total, were hard-pack surfaces), well maintained, but no consistently specific markings for the route itself.

Length: total: 49 kilometers/30 miles

Convenient to: Freiburg, Germany

Marking: No trail marking specific to this trail, and it is at times on other named trails (like the Rheintal Radweg (with a green sign and white lettering) from Malterdingen to Koenigschaffhausen)

Trail Name: Vignoble et Chateaux

Trail Type: Mid-distance circuit; varied surface types (paved, grass, dirt, rock), with some steps to climb; fairly well-maintained trail; the route itself is usually clearly marked, except in a couple of places.

Length: Total: 10.5 kilometers/6.5 miles

Convenient to: Colmar, France

Marking: Trail name “Vignoble et Chateaux” in purple letters on white background. (Another trail name also appears on these signs when trails overlap.)

Trail Type: Mid-distance hiking circuit; mostly paved or hard-packed gravel, maintained, but uneven in spots, and fairly well-marked.

Convenient To: Verona or Vicenza, Italy

Marking: Brown sign with trail name in white letters; yellow signs with black lettering indicate location (or way to a location).

Trail Name: Itinerari Tra I Vigneti 1 (Through the Vineyards 1)

Trail Type: medium distance circuit; on asphalt in urban areas, or hard packed gravel otherwise, with a few stairs or risers in the steep areas; well maintained, and well-marked.

Length: total: 12.5 km/7.8 miles

Convenient to: Chiasso or Lugano, Switzerland; or Como, Italy

Marking: A florescent green triangle on a square purple background, with stylized white grapes in the corner. Alternatively, the same stylized grapes but in purple, on an arrow-shaped yellow marker displaying a hiker. Note: While the green triangle could indicate a mountain-bike route, I noted that following it in the absence of the yellow marker, still kept me on track with my navigation device.

Convenient to: Lyon, France
