Trail Type: Short distance circuit; varying surfaces, from tarmac/concrete (about half) to earthen, to loose gravel, fairly well maintained, and fairly well marked.

Length: 7.1 kilometers/4.4 miles

Convenient to: Lyon or Vienne, France

Marking: Black lettering “Ampuis 1” on yellow and white (beginning at Route de la Brocarde)

Trail Name:  Giro dei Vigneti

Trail Type: Medium distance circuit; well-maintained and almost all hard surface (either paved or hard packed earth); Marking on the trail is rather good.

Length:

Total – 10 kilometers/ 6 miles

Convenient to: Bardolino, Italy

Trail Name: Durch die Reben des Oelberg (Through Oelberg Vineyards)

Trail Type: A short distance circuit; well-maintained, but with varying surfaces, from grass to tarmac, marking on the trail is generic, but good throughout.

Length:

Total – 6.8 kilometers/ 4.25 miles

Convenient to: Waldshut-Tiengen, Germany; Schaffhausen, Switzerland

Trail Name: Weinwanderweg Mannaberg

Trail Type: Long distance; well-maintained and almost exclusively paved or hard surface throughout, marking on the trail good in places, and missing altogether in others

Length:

Total – 21 kilometers/ 13 miles

Convenient to: Heidelberg, or Wiesloch, Germany

Marking: Blue grapes in a white circle on an orange background

Trail Name: Sentier de la Fontaine

Trail Type: Short distance circuit; Somewhat roughly maintained; Marking on the trail is limited.

Length: 3.5 kilometers/2 miles

Convenient to:  None, but the closest big city is Perpignan

Marking: Wooden signpost with a pointing finger, with the trail name inscribed, at the beginning and end of the trail, (see the featured photo)  and educational signboards, see below, along the way.

Gorizia a Cormons: Trail in a Nutshell

 

Trail Name: Gorizia a Cormons (AKA: Slow Collio, Un Paesaggio da Bere)

Trail Type: Short distance cycling circuit (with a short tail from Gorizia); about half on lightly travelled paved roads through and between towns, and half on improved earthen trails through countryside, mostly in a protected nature zone; well maintained, but the route itself is well-marked in places, but not in others.

Length: 23 kilometers/ 14.3 miles

Convenient to: Udine, Gorizia, Italy

Marking: FVG3 and Slow Collio.

Trail Name: Hiwweltour Bismarckturm

Trail Type: Mid-distance circuit; trail surface variable – from earthen to paved, includes stairs, well maintained overall; the route itself is fairly well-marked.

Length: 10.3 kilometers/6.4 miles

Convenient to: Mainz, Germany

Trail Name: Chemin du Vignoble

Trail Type: Long distance, two-stage bike trail from Martigny to Leuk (aka Loeche), in the Valais Canton in Switzerland; well-maintained and almost exclusively paved, but marking on the trail can be problematic in places.

Length:

Total – 83 kilometers/ 51.5miles

Stage One – 36 kilometers/22.4 miles

Stage Two – 47 kilometers/29 miles

Convenient to: Martigny, Montreux, or Sion, Switzerland

Marking: Red stylized grapes with 72 in white, on a blue square, on a red arrow.

Trail Name : Circuit de Stromberg (AKA: Boucle de Stromberg)

Trail Type: Short distance circuit; mostly hard surfaces, to include about 100 steps, somewhat maintained, but the route itself is only intermittently marked.

Length: 7.7 kilometers/4.75 miles

Convenient to: Thionville, France; Remich or Schengen, Luxembourg; Perl, Germany

Marking: Yellow rectangle/Red and white rectangles thru town/Red dot; as well as location and directional signposts
